The Devalued American Worker - Profile in Winston-Salem

1 Comment(s) | Posted |

The Washington Post profiles a Winston-Salem man to explain the "hollowing out" of middle class jobs in North Carolina and across the nation, as the U.S. has lost about 5.5M manufacturing jobs since 1990.  Read the story and watch the short three minute video of Ed Green right here.

The Raleigh News & Observer references this story in it editorial to explain how Republican claims of a roaring North Carolina economy do not mesh with the reality for many people across the state. "The problem Republicans have in selling North Carolinians on the idea that things are great and people are better off is that it’s not true where most North Carolinians live," says the N&O.

Ed Green, Winston-Salem resident, woks for the NCDOT and local sporting events to make ends meet for his family.
