HB2 is Too Extreme Even For Donald Trump
In a recent interview for NBC Today, Donald Trump weighed in on HB2 as a bad business move for NC. If HB2 is too far out there for the likes of Donald Trump then Gov. McCrory has fallen off the deep end with his continued defense for the discriminatory law.
“North Carolina did something that was very strong, and they’re paying a big price. And there’s a lot of problems,” Trump said on NBC’s “Today” show. “Leave it the way it is. North Carolina, what they’re going through, with all of the business and all of the strife – and that’s on both sides – you leave it the way it is.
“There have been very few complaints the way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate. There has been so little trouble. And the problem with what happened in North Carolina is the strife and the economic punishment they’re taking.”
Trump made the comments in reply to a question at an outdoor town hall meeting.
He was asked whether he would let Caitlyn Jenner, a transgender woman, use any bathroom that she wanted in Trump Tower.
“That is correct,” Trump responded.
Democrats pounced on Trump’s comments.
“(Gov.) Pat McCrory’s discrimination law is so extreme even Donald Trump won’t support it,” state Democratic Party Executive Director Kimberly Reynolds said in a statement.
