Gov. Pat, Poets, & Experts in General - Who Needs Them?
An award-winning non-fiction author sees a pattern in Gov. Pat McCrory's appointment of a poet laureate who apparently never published a poem she did not pay for. Pat McCrory appointed an Environment Secretary who said oil was a renewable resource. McCrory tapped a campaign contributor to run the sprawling Dept. of Health & Human Services after she had never managed any large bureaucracy. She in turn "was instrumental in hiring Matt McKillip and Ricky Diaz, two 24-year-olds with no experience doing much of anything, and paying them each more than $80,000 per year on her staff." Poets?
