New Polling Shows a Clear Majority Supports Medicaid Expansion in NC

Progress North Carolina Action and Public Policy Polling conducted an online survey (May 30th - June 1st) of North Carolina voters on their attitudes toward public health care issues and Medicaid expansion. PNC Action believes this poll provides clear evidence that public opinion is on the side of progressive advocates. The poll also suggests that while Medicaid expansion may not be the most effective issue for persuading independent voters, it is still a fertile issue for turning out crucial base voters.

The issue at the center of the debate is the General Assembly and Governor McCrory’s continued unwillingness to give affordable health care access to 500,000 uninsured North Carolinians by expanding Medicaid. Medicaid expansion has held majority support among North Carolina voters ever since the proposal was introduced as part of the Affordable Care Act, and this latest poll is no different.
